Why? Becasue some sort of flexible connection that allows the tree to flex in the wind without stressing the wire is important. Even some loops made out of cable wraps are easy to install especially the ones that have a screw hole to allow the loop to be fastened to the tree. Putting a Beverage wire over a branch or a limb is not a good idea since the tree will eventually envelope the wire as it grows. Or the limp will chafe the insulation of the wire causing even further problem.

Why do you need insulators on a tree?

You can also obtain electric fence insulators with a screw end and put them
into your trees. I have done this with good success. Just take them out
when and if you remove your antenna to prevent them causing a problem with a
chainsaw.
