I suggest that you ask K3LR. It was my impression that Zo of the 2-wire
line was not all that critical, but I'm not sure of that. As to rolling
your own -- the equation for Zo of 2-wire line is pretty well cut and
dried as long as you enter the correct parameters. BUT -- the dielectric
DOES affect Zo, and the best known equations are for bare wire.
There's a guy who sells nice spacers for open wire line at Dayton. He
gives out samples, and I grabbed one. www.73cnc.com He says his spacing
is for using #14 THHN for 600 ohms.
Obviously, there are many ways to skin this particular cat, and you
could probably roll your own. Probably too big for your application, but
I use short lengths of 1/2-in PVC conduit with holes drilled near each
end as spacers for fan dipoles.
