I have finally been able to get around to making my antenna project (GM RT-936
+ 6’ mast + K4KIO Hexbeam) a reality. With everything assembled on the ground
to ensure that it works properly before putting it on the roof I have come into
an issue with rotation. Since this is my first non wire antenna (usually use
trees) I am at my wits end. The 450A was a free find with no controller and
when I received it I had no information on it (so it could be the culprit). My
rotation issue is that I am only getting 180 degrees of rotation out of it when
the ARS-USB is saying that it has turned it 360 degrees. Below is what I have
done:
Aligned mast with rotor using the GM Thrust Bearing on top
Could use some tips and tricks to verify I did this right
Used reference point landmarks on a compass to measure rotation since I have
not zeroed it with the Hexbeam for true north.
Successfully able to turn mast by hand (loosened at rotor) and seems smooth in
full rotation but when doing this did not take note of the torque it took)
If there was any binding would that give a false reading to the controller?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated and wanted to exhaust everything before I
started searching for a new rotor.
