The insulators on my older (perhaps a decade+ old) 83-1SP's are tan colored
and the newer ones are white PTFE. I have had no issues with either type
except for one barrel that was not threaded properly and the assembly would
not go together. They are silver plated and easy to solder to.

Sure -- part number 83-1SP, with no suffixes. Soldering is a dream. They
cost a bit more.
