I concur with Jim on the Amphenol 83-1SP connector, with the exception of
Heliax connectors, it is the only PL-259 in use at my station. Recently I
bought an American Beauty soldering iron and it makes soldering PL-259
connectors a breeze. I wish that I had bought one decades ago.

What is the best kind of PL 259 connectors to use.
Only one choice -- Amphenol 83-1SP. No additional numbers on the part
number. This gives you a silver plated connector that is easy to solder
to. You will want some rosin core solder. Hard to find, but worth it.
