Exactly the reason you can't buy a plastic gasoline container without
some kludged up version of an auto shutoff spout. I know for a fact that
particular "rule" was caused by some idiot throwing gasoline on a fire.
I believe his last words before his immolation were something like "Hey,
watch this". A dead give away that something stupid is about to ensue.
The only American company producing blown polyethylene gas cans with screw on/snap on spout closures were taken out by this rule and subsequent lawsuit. Where's the "science" in that one? Speaking of science which is it this month? A glass of red wine, preferably French, (or was it Californian?) will keep you from getting Cancer. I ask because the "scientists" have been going back and forth on that one for years. Probably dependent on who has the bigger pile of grant money to hand out. Way to many ties do companies withdraw products because they are afraid of or already have legal action against them. Many times people get hurt because they don't follow instructions but they still sue. It is sad that so many products can't be use or even manufactured due to the impact they have when misused. For example, some time ago it was possible to get very efficient pesticides provided you have the licence and the right knowledge how to use them, but that's no loner the case as there were examples of misuse. The same thing with other products especially various for of plastics. I don't object to the removal of dangerous products but when I see examples of products there the danger is misuse and not good replacement available I get annoyed. That sounds like uninformed propaganda to me. And are you saying that stuff that causes cancer is OK? Is it OK to put lead and mercury in places where humans can injest it? My wife and I are both scientists, she in the area of human biology and me an EE. I DO believe in science and the scientific method, and I do NOT repeat uninformed gossip. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk -- R.
