Purchased my tubing from DX Engineering for my HI-Z array just a few months
 ago...(Along with the HI-Z)

They'll have everything you will need.

Any rattle can paint of your choosing will work proper prep of the tubes
will make the paint last a long time.

No interest in DXE except being a satisfied customer over the years.

Hi,

A two part question for the masses... I'd like to move my HI-Z
triangular to what is probably a better location than it is currently
in, surrounded by trees and close to the house. I don't want the 20'
antennas to be an object of attention as they will be sticking out of
10' high phragmites (reeds) in a marsh. I can't use the fiberglass
tent poles with wire taped to the sides that I'm using now as they
would be obvious in the open space.

Antenna grade 6061-T6 or T8 aluminium would be the best for slender
and durable. The telescoping pieces should be at least 20' tall but I
would like to relocate someday soon and would like to extend the
elements to 24' at that time. I am looking to the future and will
purchase the 8 element array. When I do so I'll need 8 antennas so
I'd like to do a bulk purchase looking forward to the future. I would
rather have the satisfaction of fabricating my own elements and
saving the money over the commercial option.

Where might I find these aluminium telescoping sections available,
with the least expense?

Another question is regarding paint. If I have the aluminium showing
10' above the marsh reeds, that might create a problem. I was
thinking of spray painting the elements with camo colors which would
probably be just right. I'm not sure if a layer of paint on the
aluminium after the antenna is assembled, will be creating a problem
in some way.

Any negatives to spray painting a Rx antenna?

Thanks & 73,

Gary
