I just looked at this "antenna" on the Universal Radio website. It's a
lousy excuse for an antenna -- in addition to the loss in that big
resistor, the connection between those two ground rods is also a big
resistor. And because it's low, there's even more loss, and most of what
little it does radiate goes straight up.
To the original poster -- toss this piece of crap in the trash, buy a
copy of the ARRL Antenna Book, some #14 wire at the big box store, a
center insulator and end insulators from the Wireman, and make yourself
a REAL antenna.
