Force 12 used 3 rivets per joint on the elements and 4 on element to boom
plates in general. The rivets worked OK on the elements and were spaced
about 1.5" apart as I recall. The boom to element plates were spaced more
like 2". I had trouble with the boom to element plates on a 40M 2 EL and
switched over to SS bolts. I had the rivets on the boom to element plates
drop off twice before I switched to bolts. Makes a mess of elements after
falling 120 feet.

Hi Vincent,
They don't use sheetmetal screws anymore; they use machine screws and nylock
nuts. The sheetmetal screws were used a LONG time ago. Perhaps your second
hand model is one of these old ones. I don't see any reason why rivets
wouldn't work, but I would use more than one (probably three per joint). It
will be more work to use rivets, as you'll be drilling more holes, rather
than one through hole and using machine screws/locknuts.

Hello all,
I bought a used Tennadyne T-12 LPDA, and am planning to reassemble and
install the antenna soon. From what I've heard these antennas sometimes
have a nasty habit of shedding the sheet metal screws that hold the tubing
for the elements together, then eventually shedding the tubing. To prevent
this I'm considering losing the screws, and instead using pop rivets à la
Force 12. Does this sound like a reasonable modification? Has anyone else
done this, and can a supply of pop rivets be purchased from Force 12?
