Dear OMs,
If I am not mistaken the SteppIR 3 element has a bidirectional mode and
it does have gain in both directions. There is no need to retract director
and reflector. I use all three modes forward, reverse and bidirectional in
contests regularly and find it most helpful. My SteppIR is the 4 element
model with trombone for 30/40.

Why not retract the reflector and director and use it as a dipole?

If you configure the 3 el steppir yagi, so it has a DIR on each end of the
boom,
and the DE in the middle, I assume its bi-directional. But does it also
have
BI-directional gain ?? Like 4 db gain in both directions ? I cant find
my
copy of YO,
so I have no way to model this. If it does have bi-directional gain, I can
see where
it would come in handy, under certain conditions.
