Glad you found it. How about some pictures? I did mention tightening the bearing before.... Are those the MFJ caps with only one bearing? Somehow you have to tighten it up so there’s more friction and better conductivity. You could easily make a little braid jumper to go across the bearing, as often seen in old BC radios. If the shaft is iron or brass, it would solder easily.
