I used a Hy-Gain BN-86 with my very first tribander and after a year or two
it went suddenly went completely dead. I only used the antenna on bands that
it was designed for and never ran over KW or 100% duty cycle. I was not
happy with experience and it was the last BN-86 that I ever purchased. I
have used a Hy-Gain BN-4000 with no issues. Currently I am using Array
Solutions baluns.

Having ready all the problems with various baluns that rate from junk to
near junk I have been using the coiled cable to feed most antennas that
require a balanced feed. I would like to hear what is the best available for
a reaonable cost and design for a beam feed. Your views would be
appreciated. I have used the BN-86 for years but in fears of failure due to
rumors that I have heard, I have move it over to a 40 meter sloper.
