Grant, PVC S&D (Serer and Drain) pipe is also available in 3 inch. I
have both 3 and 4 inch in service as conduit. You do need to be a
little more cautious when back filling over S&D as it is more subject to
rock damage and the like. In this region both Lowes and Home Depot have
the 3 and 4 inch for less than the price of sched 40 PVC water pipe and
since I'm not pressuring the conduit I go for the savings. The S&D has
some nice sweep L's which I like for ease in pulling cable.

The strength is much higher than HD perf pipe but less than SCH40.
Available 4" and up with glued or gasketed joints (used for sanitary
and more expensive). The 4" (and maybe larger) are available
perforated, but I use solid and well glued joints for all conduits.
Condensation will occur inside but I've not seen any implementation
fill with water.
Don't use sand around perf pipe, it will wash out (or into) over
time. Use drain rock 3/4 to 1".

I would like to add that some perforated drain pipes
are not very strong...might be schedule 20. If using that, be sure
to backfill equally on all sides of the pipe, leaving no voids. If
you don't, the overburden will have a tentendency to crush the
pipe over time. (All that from experience.) I like to use sand
until it's level with the top of the pipe, then sparingly wash it
in with water. Finish the backfill with whatever soil is available.
