One possibility to explore is to obtain a used bucket truck. Awhile back I
noticed one on Craigs list that had a 55 foot
lift.

Hazer used to make a tracked version called the
Voyager. I don't see why it wouldn't work
on a tapered tower, assuming you could fabricate
the correct mounting brackets for the tracks.
I have also tried to brainstorm a "free space" hazer (FSH)
that would not attach to the tower at all but simply
be pulled up in "free space" at a slight angle from
the tower by cables attached to the top of the FSH
so it would hang down. A second cable would go through
a pulley mounted up on the tower such that it would pull
the bottom of the FSH horizontally into a receiver
mounted on the tower to immobilize it. A redundant
"safety cable" could be used to prevent accidents in
case the main lifting cable/winch failed. Has anyone
else experimented with this idea?
