Mike, et al.

I have a US Towers HDX-589 tower. in English: 89 feet tall, Heavy duty.
Weighs 2,550 pounds. It has a Fulton hand crank winch on the erecting
fixture. I do not know the model because the erecting fixture is in Utah on
a friends tower.
I removed the hand crank and reinstalled the nut that holds the crank onto
the shaft of the winch.
I cut off the socket end of a 3 inch long 1/2 inch drive extension. I
milled 3 flats on the cut off end of the extension. This could also be done
by grinding, it just wouldn't look quite as professional.
I have a Harbor Freight 1/2 inch right angle drill. Similar to a Milwaukee
hole hawg, just less expensive, but OK for homeowner duty. I chuck up the
3 sided I/2 inch extension in the drills jaws.
The extension drives the appropriate size 6 point impact socket. I have
raised and lowered my tower twice using this setup. It works great, and is
MUCH less work than cranking it!
