I'm assuming that you have the guys on the tower itself rather than
the Hazer...if they are on the hazer you definitely want the latch in
place to hold it tight. If not then its more dependent on the cable
you use to hold things in place. I do as others in that I raise it
enough that the latch is in place, then put enough tension on the
cable to make it tight enough to share the load without pulling it off
the stop. that way if something breaks the backup should hold it in
place rather than let it drop several inches before the backup holds
it. I would worry that if you only had the cable holding it and it
dropped up to 12-15 inches it would shear that aluminum latch off and
continue on down to the bottom at max speed....not a good thing.
