I had a problem with starlings roosting once and I used pop bottle
rockets. I would wait till was a mass of the birds in the bushes and then I
would fire in amongst them and of course the bang would scare them off but
I think the smell of the powder helped to keep them away. After I did that
a few times they never came back, plus it was kind of fun, reliving some
youthful times with bottle rockets.
