My good friend and experienced mechanical engineer (35+ years of hands-on
experience) says the stronger option is worth the difference. It doesn't
make a better dead weight but it does stay together better when the rebar is
stressed.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Grounding - Tower Grounds
So what I am taking away from the thread on Grounding HDX-555 is that if
you are going to put up a tower you absolutely need to ground it. I hope to
be putting up a tower in a few weeks and had not really given this much
thought. I have not grounded any of my rigs and equipment over the years
and maybe this is a little risky too. At any rate, I will break open the
ARRL antenna handbook before I start this project.
On a separate note, I called on of our concrete suppliers and he gave me
quotes of two grades of concrete; is there any reason to get the higher
strength concrete for a free standing crank up tower (max height of 43
feet)? 73s Roger
