That brings up another issue I have wondered about. I know that monoband
yagis outperform tribanders because they have the proper element spacing,
where a tribander is a compromise in terms of element spacing, without
optimal spacing for any of the bands it covers.
Does the same hold true for verticals? Will a single band vertical outperform a 20-10 trapped vertical? There is no element spacing to take into account with a vertical. 73 John AF5CC----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott MacKenzie" <kb0fhp@verizon.net> To: "'John G.'" <af5cc@fidmail.com> Sent: Saturday, April 06, 2013 2:07 AM Subject: RE: [TowerTalk] Vertical comparison question I have a Gap Titan. It is a compromise multiband antenna. It primarybenefit is low maintenance. It makes contacts for my very casual operatingthese days. With work, I can make a contact in a pileup. If I were tocompare it to a single band vertical with a proper ground system, I think Iwould lose. The take off angle is low but it is a low maintenance compromise multiband antenna. I don't think it is the worst performer, nor the best. -----Original Message-----From: TowerTalk [mailto:towertalk-bounces@contesting.com] On Behalf Of JohnG. Does one tend to outperform the other? I am lookinghow each performs for DXing and longer haul communications. 73 John AF5CC _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk |
