In my unfortunately never ending tower project, I have reached a temporary
impasse.
I have become enamored (and my wife even more so) with the NN4ZZ tilt
plate. She likes the idea of all the tower work at ground level, no
ladders. I could simply buy two of the NN4ZZ plates, a new mast or two,
and deploy the A3WS and KT36XA I already have. But, given the extra money
involved in that, it makes me wonder instead if I should just go for my end
point, buy one plate and no masts. The end point was always going to be a
Force 12 Delta 6BA (six bands) or a Steppir (eight).
I had been down on the Steppir due to what I perceived as higher
complexity, but the ability to get 40 through 6 meters all on one antenna,
at full tower height, with the DB 18 is very appealing.
So. . .anyone interested in a "new in box" A3WS and a used (and still
mostly assembled) KT36XA? The A3WS is in the original shipping box, with
the 30 meter kit. From the store, which is what I have, it runs around
650. I got the KT36XA from a local ham and actually "test drove" it a bit
before buying it. It has since been in my shed, awaiting deployment.
I have a colleague in my local DX club interested, but he's actually living
well out of town and transporting the KT36XA is going to be a headache
because it would have to be disassembled to achieve UPS limits (or anyone
else's). I would prefer that the KT36XA not be disassembled further for
shipping. That benefits not just me, but the buyer as well. But, this
means someone who could come to central Arizona and be able to haul twelve
foot sections to the destination.
I'd like to get about 1100 for the pair of them, if someone is interested
in both. The A3WS could be reshipped of course.
I'll consider any reasonable offer.
Meanwhile, is anyone looking to upgrade their DB 18, especially reasonably
local to central AZ?
