Hi Doug -
I believe that the "ham" rotators have a reputation for having the brake
wedge hang up in the gear, in which case rocking it back and forth a couple
of time may free it up if your lucky. I have had this happen and rocking it
freed things up. The cause is likely releasing the brake too quickly after
releasing the rotator switch, i.e. trying to set the brake wedge before it
has stopped rotating. A brake delay circuit mod is available from MFJ.

The rotor is on a tower and the run is about 275 ft from the shack.
What is the best way to get more response from it? At times I have to
rock the antenaa back and forth to get it to even move. I am sure it
must be voltage loss. Boost the voltage from the controller?
