As you can see, I used that too. The "disadvantage" with that is that you can 
only use the compression coupling once. If you need to remove the connector 
from the cable you need to buy a new compression ring and nut.


You "only" need to cut the cable and can reuse everything else with the flare 
connection, plus you get two attachments out of one union compare to one 
attachment with one union compression coupling. The union coupling are about $8 
at Lowes and Home Depot. It took me about 20 minutes to shape the flare union 
into two attachments. It is just a matter of what you want to do. The 
compression coupling is much easier to use, but it is fun to "build things" 
sometimes. :-)

I use standard copper pipe compression fittings if the cable is the aluminum 
75 ohm cabel tv line. They work great.
