I have used Bowline on both ends of the rope guy wires for my rotating
towers including the new 70 meters tower with ca 0.4 inch ropes. So far so
good. Now reading abit on those knots mentioned in this thread I came across
Yosemite Bowline that seems to me even more secure Bowline with the free end
of the rope wrapped around one leg of the loop and tucked back through the
knot. Provided it is tied correctly looks like a best way to tighten those
guy ropes provided of course there is another way to tighten them (which I
do having the lower part of the guy wire from steel and ended with
turnbuckles).
Any relfections on Yosemite Bowline?

If the anchors are just stakes in the ground use a pipe hitch. That is 3
turns around the stake with 2 half hitches. That knot would prevent the
rope from slipping up or down the stake and is easy to tighten and tie the
half hitches as the 3 turns keep the rope from slipping around the stake.
If the anchor has an eye in it then just two or three half hitches are fine
to tie to it, though I would normally do an extra loop or two through the
eye to make cinching it down easier.
While the bowline may be nice for some uses it is not good in uses where you
have to tie it to tighten up the guy since it inherently gives back slack to
the line when you tighten the loop.

I'm putting up a 40' aluminum mast as an end point for an all band dipole
antenna. What's the best way to attach the guy ropes to the anchors? At the
moment, it's been suggested I use a tautline hitch. I've used this knot
before to hold up dipoles, not sure about its reliability as a guy rope
knot. However, I like that it allows the rope to move either way so I can
adjust it. Are there some other knots to consider? How about some kind of
mechanical device?
