Hi Rick -
I wonder if in a case like yours you couldn't have attach the bundle two or
three feet out from the mast, on the lowest boom, and on the tower, down a
few feet from the top and let it coil around the tower. If there're more
cables going up further up the mast, just bring the rest of the bundle back
along the number one boom and up the mast to the next antenna. If there are
guys on the top of the tower, just let the bundle drop from the boom and
rest on them.

Hi Glen -
I just set it up so the bottom end was secured to the top of the tower
with
the bundle leading towards the mast and the top end fastened to about the
center of the boom or just below the boom on the mast. I set it up with
about four moderately tight turns and then rotate back two turns and
consider that as the "center of rotation" leaving me free to go at least
a
half or three quarters of revolution in either direction. Another thing
to
watch out for is that when "unwound" a couple of turns there is nothing
on
the top of the tower that the loop will catch on when it tightens up.
When I did this, I realized that I needed 2 or 3 feet of gratuitous
mast length so that the loops wouldn't be falling onto the top of the
tower. Otherwise, I would have used just enough mast to get
the antenna to clear the tower. I went to a double strength mast
to allow having the MonstIR up that high without bending the mast.
I think this is the main disadvantage of this rotor loop method.
With a 106 foot tower, the last thing I needed was an additional 3 feet of
height due to the mast. However, I could not think of a better way to do
it, except maybe mount a big plate on top of the tower for the
pile of coax to rest on out of harms way.
