Thank you for the reply. I haven't been able to confirm whether the beam has a
20db F/B at the resonant frequency. If that is really true I would consider
moving the resonant frequency to the SSB portion. However based on several
replies I received it seemed the F/B is not only frequency dependent but also
angle dependent. Perhaps the F/B would be better at lower angles, whereas at
higher angles the antenna becomes more omni-directional. In any case without
further proof that there is a lot to be gained by moving the frequency I won't
bother with it, yet. It's a lot of work tuning a high Q antenna since the
performance characteristics change with antenna height. 73.

20dB F/B would be incredible for a short 2el 40m beam AT the resonant
frequency. You should have adjusted your beam for a higher frequency if
you mostly use the phone band. John KK9A
