I have a catalog dated 5-69 and it says the following, HZN has 4 models
275lbs Max Dead 12 Sq. Ft. @2 ft above tower@60 MPH. Could maybe figure out
the model by how much your tower weights. This information supplied with a
grain of salt. The book is interesting reading. If you want a copy let me
know and I need to have go to the local office supply. 73 Gene K2QWD

Subject: [TowerTalk] Tri-Ex HZ 354 Tower info needed
Hello-
I have a chance to purchase a Tri-Ex HZ 354 crank up tower locally for a
good price. The tower appears to be in good shape, with only minor surface
rust in some places. Cable is intact and in decent shape. It also has a
motorized winch assembly, but that needs a little work (new belt etc)
I have spent several hours online trying to figure out the specs on this
tower. Some of the information posted says the tower is light duty and
needs to be bracketed to a house, and maybe even guyed. The tower looks
pretty rugged to me- the bottom section measures slightly over 19" across.
I don't want to buy this tower only to discover that it will only hold 5 or
6 sq ft of antenna. I have a TH6 and maybe a 12/17 mtr beam I would like to
put on it.
Does anyone have any leads where I might be able to find the specs? I
already tried Tashjian Towers- they have specs regarding the LM354 series
tower but not the HZ 354.
My guess is that this is a 40+ year old tower, and although it looks good,
it just might not be robust enough to hold 10-15 sq ft of antennas.
Thanks for any help-
John K2ZJ
