Can't you put a pair of shackles and preformed big ends in the middle where 
you want to split the guy wire. I use this shackle  method to join the ehs 
to the phillystran on my top set of guys.

Maybe you can go on the roof with a harness and line to stop you falling off 
the edge of the roof. That should keep you safe.
