If it's a ham 4, or similar, why would you sit with your finger on the
rotate button for several minuets?
Aren't you watching the direction indicator?
My good friend Hal, WA7EGA simply put black tape on the direction meter
that
showed the maximum rotation. Worked just fine in his contest station for
many years.
