I see nothing wrong with W0UN employing modeling software to minimize
trial-and-error and possible unnecessary expense. The reason he posted
his question was that modeling correctly indicated that it can sometimes
be difficult to find the proper combination for a fan dipole that gives
a good SWR on both bands without help from a tuner.
Ham radio may not be rocket science, but hopefully it has progressed
beyond merely "put something up and try it."
