I would try and check the pulley's, I can't imagine any of the sections
would get bent in a 70 MPH wind with such light loading antenna wise. If it
did we are all in trouble hi hi.

My HG70HD "screeches" pretty loudly in various elevations when cranking up
or down. I'm not sure if that means a bent section or what, but I would like
some input from the list.
It is topped with a 4-el SteppIR with the 30/40 meter trombone element and
the 6 meter parasitic elements. Turning with a Tailtwister. It is motorized
with a (I think) 1/2 HP motor through a Hub City W300 gear box p/n
0220-74856 (50:1 ratio I think) which I recently had to replace. Not sure if
it failed due to lack of proper lubrication or being overstressed. The guy
who had to remove it (which was no easy task since it had probably been on
for 20 plus years) couldn't be sure.
The tower has been in a few 60-70 mph wind storms that came up in the summer
with little or no warning. The tower seemed to hold fine but actually looked
like it was flexing during the strong gusts. To the blind eye it still looks
perfectly straight. Note that I do a lot of travelling, so I always lower
the tower when I am out of town, which has required lowering and raising the
tower at least 6 times a year.
In certain spots it seems that it has even stalled the motor going up. I had
to go back down with the motor, than reverse to get past the bad spot.
Do I have a bent section and if so, what to do about it?
