The problems with "string of bead" chokes are 1) that they are not resistive at the operating frequency, which makes them quite sensitive to the length of the feedline; and 2) they don't have enough choking impedance to do provide much noise rejection. Simple coils of coax with no ferrite cores have the same limitations.
