Maybe K4XS will chime in but we were having a discussion on this subject and
I think 70 ft might be a better height. If you had a 40m beam in the mix
then you might want the extra height.
I have a 70 ft self supporting tower with a 4 ele SteppIR at 72 ft and a 2
ele 40 about 12 ft above it and it works very very well.

100 feet is fine for 20m and possibly 15m, but probably too high for 10m,
especially during high sunspot conditions. Unfortunately you never know at
what radiation angle signals arrive will arrive and with higher antennas you
can have some big nulls at possible angles. So if you're going to have a
high antenna, you should have a lower one to fill in the nulls.

I have started my Rohn 45 tower projhect. I am planning to put a Cushcraft
A3WS and a TH7DX atop this tower. I was planning on erecting a 100 foot
tower but a fellow ham suggested that that might be too high. What in the
groups informed opinion would be an ideal height for these antennas?
