Andre: I had the problem of repairing a 57 foot 3" boom which had
buckled. I removed the damaged section. I measured the ID of the
undamaged tube and went to our local aluminum supplier. They had an
aluminum pipe(not tube) which was just right to slip inside the boom. I
have also had success using a piece of 3 inch irrigation tubing to
connect sections of the same material. I cut a slot lengthwise in the
splice tube, compressed its OD and slipped it inside the 2 pieces. You
can use a piece of wood to drive it in.
