As I said, privately, to Jim Lux's comment about deflection, and the  
paper given at
Dayton... I thought you could MEASURE some small deflection, but  
perhaps not feel it.
I was thinking of the catenary sag in the guys, being taken up as  
load builds.

The KE1IH figure of 12" displacement at 80' sounds excessive to me.    
That's one whole
tower face!    1-2" I could believe.

But that's an intuitive reaction, not data-driven.   So I may be  
completely wrong.

On the topic of self-supporters... I've been in the Keio Plaza Hotel,  
in Tokyo, twice, during
monsoons.   The damned thing creaks and groans and rocks like a  
wooden schooner, with
a period of about 15 seconds.    Windgusts at 100km/h or more.    Had  
to be moving 3 or 4 inches.
Readily felt.
