Here in rural South Dakota we have "wireless" cable / high speed internet /
IP phone service. They planted a recycled power pole in my yard for their
antenna/ up&down converter. They charged $100 which includes the recycled
pole and the coax. The pole has been treated with creosote. They do not
climb the poles as they can reach everything from their bucket.
When I asked, they said they would plant as many as I wanted at $100 each.
My local farm supply stores still sell creosote fence posts, they cost a
little more than green treated, but hold up much better.
I guess creosote isn't banned everywhere.

Creosote is a Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon that includes phenols and
cresols.
(The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has determined that
coal tar creosote is probably carcinogenic to humans. The EPA has also
determined that coal tar creosote is a probable human carcinogen.)
Power companies have not used creosote treated poles in my area for many
years due to the carcinogenic nature of them.
