A couple of points concerning steps: 1) experiment a bit with the spacing between steps so that it's comfortable for you, depending on your height, leg length, etc. Don't try to save a few $ by using larger spacing to reduce the number of steps. 2) Near the top, put two steps at the same level on opposite sides to form a place to stand with both feet securely anchored and your belt around the pole.
