Dennis, you did not tell us what the diameter of the drum is and I think
therin lies the problem. Typical tower winches use large diameter drums
to avoid crushing the cable. They require a larger motor to turn the
winch than would be needed with a smaller diameter drum. I suspect the
cable is not the problem. My TX472 tower uses a small hand winch to lay
the tower over and it tends to crush the cable. Is your winch hand
powered or motor driven?
