Don't know about the discharge rate but the batteries in my 259 last
for 2-3 years.
3. once I get the batteries installed and the jumper checked..
HOW do you get the analyzer into the pouch?

It's a real tight fit. What I did was to cut out the front of the
pouch for the knobs and then struggle to get it in. Once it's in, you
won't have to take it out until the batteries need replacing. Just stretch the
material - it's pretty tough.
I LOVE the pouch. It's the best accessory for the analyzer. You
can hang it on just about anything and I even hang it from a boom or element
by putting strap over the boom/element and putting the analyzer thru the
loop. Easy to install, easy to remove and it's pretty much hands-free at that
point.
