Hi Tom
I like to use steel wool and alachol on hardend penatox/noalox areas, and
red 3M scuff pads on the remaining tubing.
YMMV

Ps when you assemble the antenna. put the penatrox/noalox on a rag and just
wipe a " FILM" on the telascoping elements.
