Mark, I have the assembly manuals for both the TH6DXX and the TH7DX. The
detail in the " 7 " manual depicts the pigtails as item(s) #86 but does not
indicate a length. The same drawing in the " 6 " assembly manual depicts TWO
pigtails lengths, one is 6 1/2" and the other is 7". Of the two pigtails,
the ones between the BN-86 and the DRIVEN element the lengths 6 1/2".
These are item #65. The other is item # 64 which is the pigtail between the
beta tubes and the driven element which is the 7" length. Hope this helps.
I have had both antennas. Though the " 6 " played well the TH7DX was
wonderful, especially in the part of the cycle when you could appreciate the
5 elements on 10 meters and how broad banded it was. '73, Mike

Subject: [TowerTalk] Help w/ Hy-Gain TH-6
Hi Guys,
I'm rebuilding a Hy-gain TH-6DXX. Notwithstanding the fact that I
have
three somewhat different manuals, I am almost done with the assembly. When
replacing the feed / matching section, I see that the wires from the BN-86
balun to the driven element (not supplied) are to be 7 inches of #12 wire.
I already have these cut and ready.
There are also wires from the driven element(s) to the beta tubes.
These
were missing from the antenna, and the book does not give a length. They
are simply listed as item #86, Hy-Gain part # 878561 pigtail leads. I'm
guessing that since this is part of the hairpin matching, the length is
somewhat critical. The book shows they have solder lugs on the ends, and I
assume they are #12 wire as well. Can anyone help me out with how long
these pigtails should be?
Thanks & 73
Mark, K5ER
