Alfredo,
I have been very happy with edge glued panels. Several companies make
them and your local lumber yard has them, or can get them. They will easily
hold a boat anchor station forever without warping. They are pretty easy to
work and require no special tools. They can also be finished to be
beautiful!
Some thing like these:

I used 3 pieces that were 30" X 60". My Bench/operating area is now 30" X
180". The supports are standard 2x4s
73 and Good Luck,

Subject: [TowerTalk] Help with a good desk!
Hi
I want to build a good desk to my station room and I would like to know
a good and strong wood panel, because it will hold heavy stuff (radios,
amplifiers, etc.) Thanks
