You may better off to just replace everything. About two decades ago, I
owned two HDR-300's and I could not go a year without rebuilding each of
them. The biggest problem was the shaft wearing out.

Admittedly, I haven't done my homework and checked the schematics. Just
looking for a quick answer before going further.
I have a HDR-300 (works great) but HATE the control head (it's
HUGE!). Has anybody ever tried or investigated modifying a Hygain
bell-type control head (i.e. Tailtwister) to control the HDR-300?
cheers
