You're trying to fix something that isn't broken. The bearing doesn't
require any lubrication.

Subject: [TowerTalk] thrust bearing grease
I have done an easy fix
1. install a zerk fitting in the bearing housing
This is a Grease fitting
2. lite grease with ag green poly grease thru John Deere
this is an all temperature grease White grease for marine applications is
ok
3. cover the thrust bearing with a CV boot from an old
VW bug. Attach at mast and over CV with SS band
clamps. This prevents dirt and dust into the bearing
and keeps water away from the bearing
