Hi Mike,
A year ago I purchased the 9ft model, but have yet to actually install it.
However, my friend who originally had it, did not use lag bolts to mount it. He
used through bolts with locking nuts on the interior side. He drilled straight
through the 2X8 rafter supports that you install to strengthen the roof
section. This will strengthen the tower considerably at minimal cost. Is your
wind loading within parameters? Be careful you don't get too much antenna up
there (unless you also plan on guying it). Also, I would add a couple of
reinforcing sections of 2X6 or 2X8 as the case may be for your rafter spacing.
