We had one of those that ran about a 1/4 mile from my house at the closest.
That fence was between 2 and 3 miles long. After I was able to demonstrate
they had a short when I could hear it they were real quick about fixing it
as a shorted fence didn't keep any cows in. They had over 200 milk cows and
only had a major break twice that I remember.
There's a pig farm about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile to the ESE of us here. I
rarely hear their fence.

The old "weed choppers" were real noise generators. Hurt too. <:-)) When
the weeds would grow up against the fence there was enough power in there to
kill the weeds. A good wind after a week or two of calm summer weather
would really make some noise. The weeds along the fence would have grown up
quite a bit above the fence and the wind would then blow them against it.
