Dan, I have had good success splicing booms by using inside tubing which has
been slit lengthwise. I use a piece of the boom material, squeeze it
together and drive it into the ID with a wood block and hammer. The slit
will have to be 1/4 inch wide or so. You could even slide a second piece
inside that for more strength. A couple of sheet metal screws will hold
everything together.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Aluminum tubing over 2"
Looking for a 6 foot stick of 2.25" O.D. 1/8th wall aluminum tubing to
make some couplers for a guyed rotating mast of 2" tubing.
I'm having a hard time finding it for non-ridiculous prices. Haven't
found anything much under $9/foot and that's pre-shipping.
Anyone have a supplier they like that will sell in small quantities
without big handling fees?
Or am I just off base here and it just costs $8-$9 per foot for 2.25"
x 0.125" 6061-T6 or equivalent tubing? Is it just a weird size?
