If this really came from Steve me thinks the computer has a termite
building a nest. Or something came back to life creating a zombie. These
are typical messages sent in HTML to verify e-mail addresses and to get by
spam filters. In HTML they may, or are likely to contain malicious links as
well which is a good reason to always have the mail reader set to text only.
