I have repeated this to myself many times when doing tower work or climbing
a tree - "It's not a race!" Nobody is timing you, it's not televised, no
one will complain or laugh if you stop and take a rest. If your legs or
arms get tired, rest. If you can't quite figure out how to do something,
rest and think.
The flip side is to think ahead and don't start a job that you don't have
time to finish safely. Be realistic about the time it will take you to get
up and down the tower (or tree). Consider what you will do if you have to
stop partway through the job. Make a Plan B before you start.
If you get out of your comfort zone - stop! Whether it's mental, time, or
physical - leave yourself plenty of slack because Murphy lives on towers.
