Until someone comes out with a VNA that does excellent work thru 24GHz for
$1000 I'll have to rely on the old workhorse. Im very familiar with the
8510, used it and the other models I have for many years from when they were
new. No learning curves!
My current tower project is for microwave antennas and so are my equipment
building projects aimed at the microwaves. Right now Im VNA limited at 5.6
GHz.
Agilent has dropped support on the old HP gear almost straight across the
board. No surprise there, we were warned of that coming in 2001 when the new
stuff was demo'ed at work. Its guys like my friend that keep them rolling
along.
