For what it's worth, if you make the vertical a tad short, you can use
the shunt coil to match up to 50 ohms.
Hardly necessary to have SWR perfection, but it's so easy to do.
If you use a shunt coil this is probably the way to do it. I
wouldn't want to let the voltage get high enough from static buildup
to fire a spark gap.
